ECW Royal gathering wip1

Its been a while since i last posted anything, what with the time of year and reality of life itself getting in the way!
Thankyou to everyone who kindly commented on the figures i posted here in 2015 and will try to keep it up in 2016, and i hope you all realize your painting goals for the year ahead and look forward to seeing them in all there painted glory.
So for 2016 the largest project i have on the table is a 115 figure Landsknecht pikebloc and a 70 to 85 figure Landsknecht pikebloc of the black band which makes the total of  around 185 to 200 figures altogether and at 15mm scale should be achievable and of course i intend to use the petes flags sheets to the full !
Another aim this year is to paint a bit more pike and shot era ECW/TYW figures and this ECW Royal standard bearer and Prince Rupert bicorne figure are part of a vignette i have started on recently and will also include bicorne miniatures king charles foot set. The flag is by GMB designs

Thanks for reading and once again thanks to everyone who made so many kind comments in 2015.

  2. Great painting there. Bright, clean but realistic colours.

I'm looking forward to seeing your 15mm Landsknechts - whose figures are you going to use?

    1. Thanks Midlander, i have gone with old glory figures for the Landsknechts, they look great and come in huge packs of 50 figures, a great command pack, a pack of halberds and swords and a large artillery and crew pack and are cheap too!!!

  3. Stunning paintwork indeed !

Might you aim for games of The Pikeman´s Lament in the future?

    Best regards Michael

  4. As expected those look wonderful!! I think Bicorne, Renegade and Redoubt make the finest ECW figures. It reminds me I need to get back to work on my ECW project!

    1. Thanks Christopher, yes Bicorne and Renegade are superb ranges and fit perfectly together, but i have just recieved a 24 figure Regiment pack of Empress ECW figures and they are sculpting delight, about same hight as Bicorne but slightly more slender which seems to be the way manufacturers are going these days rather than the chunky style of old!

  5. That is some really beautifully painted horses - may I ask what combination of browns you've used for the horse flesh?

    1. Thanks Soren, you may indeed ask, the brown horse paint is foundry Chestnut A,B and C in that order with a bit of white added to Chestnut C to add a extra highlight!
