Swiss rear ranks finished

All finished, well painting the figures anyway. I am waiting till I get them based up before taking pictures of them together with the front ranks!
If you look hard enough at the back end of the far left base in the picture showing the rear of the minis you may just make out a patch of red stuff, which is proof that I have not only put a lot of time into this little bloc but have spilled blood to get it done.  I have pricked my hands and fingers on those pikes a dozen times and when I finally have them finished and preparing them for photos I really went and impaled my finger, those North star pikes are very sharp.
A big thank you to everyone who has given me their kind comments and followed my Swiss pikebloc over last few months and i will post photos of the hole group when based.

  1. I really have to say you did an excellent job here Chris...the color scheme you used for the infantry is top notch..the shades of "wood brown color" for the pikes are great as well as the foot gear (boots/shoes) and of course the Flags/Banners help make the unit of Swiss Pike men look very impressive... well done Chris! two thumbs up

    Cheers,

    1. Thanks Phil, much appreciate your kind words, I think there is only two colours I didn't like, the Glarus chap at the back with green hose, I thought the green is a bit to green!!! and the chap next door but one from him, I think his blue hose looks more like a pair of faded blue denim trousers!!!but besides them I was happy with the rest. Yes those banners really do add colour and I still have plenty left over from the flag sheet for the future!
      Thanks for following Phil

    2. oh come on Chris, the guys with the green and blue hose look great! to me... you may consider go over the green and blue with a light gray wash to cut down the strong contrast of the green and blue?

      anyway I love these guys..
      cheers,
      Phil

  2. Ah, North Star hardened steel pikes - only a matter of time until someone makes a legal claim I think for personal damages...Ha ha. We've all done it. :-)
Looking really good Chris - very impressive unit. You must be very pleased with those.
Seen pics of Perrys 3-up foot knight greens at Tactica?

    1. Thanks Simon, glad you found my little accident amusing! Very pleased with how they turned out, I think the mix of perry and foundry figures plus the Swiss head set and petes flags has made this the best Pike bloc I have done to date.
Thanks for following this and giving me your kind comments, now I can give my poor hands and fingers some respite from the Pikes and watch yours develop!
      Cheers

  4. Really lovely. Perhaps the blood sacrifice will make them fiercer? ;-)

I use snippers to cut the end 0.5mm off the North Star pikes. It is really worthwhile, they are a lot less lethal, after...

    1. Thank you Simon and thanks for the tip. Better late than never!!!
I think the next time I play with North star Pikes I may try snipping there ends or file them, just to enough to take the sting out of them.

  7. I have to compliment the amount of detail you've added to their faces. One could only dream of a gaming table full of units this quality. Impressive.
A tip of the hat to Peter's amazing flags by the way, they really fit the unit color scheme well.
